College Savings Planning Workshop

Learn about your options to help pay for education expenses.

For the 2022-23 school year, the College Board reported that the total cost to attend a public four-year in-state college averaged $27,940.

Starting an education savings plan and becoming acquainted with the many options available can help you get a step ahead on saving for higher education. This presentation will cover these topics, as well as:
▪ Section 529 plans
▪ Coverdell accounts
▪ U.S. Savings Bonds
▪ UGMA and UTMA accounts

This workshop will also cover tax credits for education expenses, federal and state student aid programs, and student loan debt and repayment options.

Grant Hashiba is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional who specializes in retirement planning and risk management. Grant has worked in the financial services industry since 2000 and is well versed in government benefit plans as well as the retirement saving plans of Federal and State of Hawaii employees (TSP and Island Savings Plan). After graduating from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Education degree, Grant spent several years as an educator on Oahu and Maui.
