Life Plus adds protection for financially-stressful life events such as accidental dismemberment, terminal illness, hospitalization, family medical leave, and the loss of life of a non-protected dependent.

Credit card balances may be protected with Life Plus with Disability and Involuntary Unemployment. Speak to a loan representative today for more information.

Disability

QUICK FACTS

Disability protection can be added to Life Plus to provide up to 12 months or $12,000 (whichever comes first) of payment protection should you experience disability due to injury or illness.

  • Must be actively working for 25 hours per week to be eligible to purchase
  • Can be added or cancelled at any time during the loan

Involuntary Unemployment

QUICK FACTS

Involuntary unemployment protection can be added to Life Plus & Disability to protect payments for up to 6 months or $6,000 (whichever comes first).

  • 3 month waiting period (loan must be active for 3 months before coverage can be claimed)
  • Must be actively working for 25 hours per week to be eligible to purchase.
  • Self-employment doesn’t qualify

For a loan of $1,000, the cost of Life Plus debt protection for the first month will be $1.49.

There is no age limitation, but your Life Plus benefit will be reduced to 25% of the protected balance once you reach 70.

Your purchase of HOCU Debt Protection with Life Plus, Disability, and Involuntary Unemployment Protection is optional and will not affect your application for credit or terms of any credit agreement required to obtain a loan. Certain eligibility requirements, conditions, and exclusions may apply. Please contact your loan representative, or refer to the Member agreement for a full explanation of the terms of HOCU Debt Protection with Life Plus. You may cancel the protection at any time. If you cancel protection within 30 days, you will receive a full refund of any fee paid.

1. When is the deadline to purchase tickets?

The deadline to reserve tickets for the Annual Meeting is March 18. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we highly recommend reserving tickets sooner than later.

2. Is there assigned seating at the event?

No, it’s open seating when you arrive.

3. Are vaccinations required to attend the Annual Meeting?

No, we don’t require proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test to attend the meeting. All attendees are required to wear masks unless they’re eating or drinking.

4. Is there parking?

Parking is available at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii for $4. Free street parking is also available in the surrounding area and the nearby HOCU Moiliili branch.

5. What’s the lunch buffet menu?

The buffet menu includes the following items:

Online Trivia Contest

QUICK FACTS

Play to win! Test your HOCU knowledge with our Online Trivia Contest. Questions will be posted daily, and one member will be selected daily to win a $25 gift card.

Eligibility Requirements: This online trivia contest is only open to members of Honolulu Federal Credit Union (HOCU). HOCU staff and volunteers will not be considered for prize winnings.

Selection and Notification of Winner: One winner will selected and notified the day following each trivia question post. They will be selected in a random drawing from a list of members who answered the daily trivia question correctly. Prize winners will be notified via email. Transfer funds between your HOCU account and other accounts you own at different financial institutions!

You can now do external transfers from or to your HOCU account via online banking.

FAQs

External transfer allows you to transfer funds between accounts you own at other financial institutions.

This service is available now to all HOCU members that have online banking.

The monthly transfer amounts are the following below:

  • $2000 for transfers from another institution to HOCU
  • $5000 for transfers from HOCU to another institution

This service is available under the “Accounts” tab and is titled EXTERNAL ACCOUNTS. See screenshot below for reference.

 

Yes, members need to verify micro deposits at other institutions in order to transfer funds.

No, members can’t set up a transfer on the weekend. They will receive an error message on the online banking page.

Yes, there are holds for the following:

  • 1 day hold for any transfers below $225
  • 5 day hold for any transfers above $226

To receive funds immediately, please visit one of our branch locations to make an in-person deposit.

Yes, there is a $26 NSF fee for returned ACH transfers. Members will be restricted on using this service after the 1st NSF is received.

External Transfer Instructions

  1. Log into Online Banking from myhocu.com and go to Accounts -> External Accounts -> External Account Management.
  2. Click on Add External Accounts. Read disclosure and click Accept Disclosure to continue.
  3. Enter the following External Account information:
    1. Account Type (Checking or Savings)
    2. Account Description
    3. Account Number
    4. Institution Routing Number
  4. Once all details in the form fields are completed, review the ACH Verification section and then click Add External Transfer.
  5. Review the message about the micro deposits and then click OK. Once Deposits have been verified, you may start using external Transfers.

  1. Log into Online Banking from myhocu.com and go to Accounts -> External Accounts -> External Account Management.
  1. Click on Start New Transfer and enter External Transfer account information and amount. Click Continue.
  2. Select Transfer Date (Monday – Friday, except Holidays) and Frequency from the drop-down menus. Adding a message is optional. Then click Submit.
  3. Review all External Account information and click Confirm.
  4. Click Close to exit and return back to the home page.

Brighten a Child’s Holiday with Toy Donations!

HOCU is proud to announce we’re partnering this year with HUGS Hawaii, a local organization that provides support to over 400 seriously ill children and their families. We’re collecting new, unwrapped toys and gift cards until Wednesday, December 13 at all HOCU branches. 

Please consider all age groups, including pre-teen and teenage children. Look for the toy donation stations at our branches or ask any of our tellers.
